Originally, Edwin Alva Sr was somewhat of a villain who wanted to capitalize what he could do earn as much money and power as he could. As Static was someone who often stood in his way and stopped many of his plans, Alva formed a rivalry with him but later abandoned this rivalry when Static and Hotstreak saved his son.
History & Synopsis[]
Edwin Alva Sr. was responsible for creating the Quantum Vapor, or Bang Baby Gas, that turned many teenagers at the docks into "Bang Babies"; although he was unaware of the effects of the gas until the Big Bang happened.
Relationships[]
- Edwin Alva Jr.: Alva's only son and child. Alva is first seen being rather harsh and high demanding of his son, wanting him to potentially follow in his footsteps to success but felt that his son's ideas and attempts were not good enough. When Edwin tried to become the most powerful Bang Baby there was but turned himself to stone from overuse of the gas, Alva showed genuine concern and regret for what led to this and began trying to save him by any means, including kidnapping other Bang Babies to use their life forces to save Edwin. After Edwin was saved, Alva changed his behavior toward his son to repair their relationship.
- Static Shock: Alva had long rivaled against Static due to the young hero halting many of his earlier plans. Once Static helped save Edwin Jr, Alva ended the rivalry in gratitude and cease all attempts to try to learn his secret identity.
